When/how will my order ship?Once you place your order, we generally estimate a 1 to 2 business day manufacturing time before your order will be shipped. We manufacture our products on demand to ensure maximum freshness of the vinyl. As vinyl sites over time, occasionally problems with the adhesive will arise due to environmental changes and other factors, so shorter time between production and installation, the better. When you place an order with Camoclad over the phone or on our website, your order is added to our production queue. Generally an order will be manufactured the day of or the day after it is placed, at which point we allow the unfinished product to cure for approximately 24 hours before finishing it up with a matte over-laminate. Once the materials are laminated, they are cut down and/or trimmed or otherwise prepared for shipping and in most cases will be shipped that same day.
Our product shipping is handled primarily by UPS and tracking information is available to customers providing email addresses (a requirement for online orders) during the order process. For some special requests or in situations where it’s possible to save you money by doing so, some of our smaller products (such as decals or gun kits) can be shipped out via USPS. If you have questions about shipping options or prices, it is best for you to call our sales staff at 800.585.8550 to discuss your options.
How is Camoclad produced?Since introducing camouflage vinyl to the outdoor market way back in 1996, Camoclad has always been among the first to pioneer new technologies and manufacturing methods. When we started out, our graphics were screen printed on the best material available and protected by our patented matte clear coat system. Since then new developments have been made and we’ve updated our production to utilize these new technologies!
Today, Camoclad is produced on top of line, highly conformable, automotive grade vinyl from 3M (designed specifically as a replacement for the original material, the same obsolete material many competitors still use). Our graphics are digitally printed using state-of-the-art wide-format solvent ink jet printing technology, which allows for far superior image quality and works flawlessly with today’s modern computer created camouflage patterns. We use a high quality matte laminate that will protect your camouflage from damage and fading rated for up to 4 years (however our installs have shown that the product can last indefinitely when properly installed and maintained).
Will extreme heat or cold affect the Camoclad? While it is recommended that you install your Camoclad products in a moderate temperature (between 50 and 80 degrees), once your kit is installed, heat and cold will have no effect on Camoclad graphics. From the great Alaskan tundra to the deserts of the American southwest, Camoclad will continue to hold up and look great in all weather conditions.
Will Camoclad fade?Camoclad camouflage graphics carry a 4 year warranty against fading. So far we have had Camoclad on some vehicles for over 10 years with no signs of fading.
I want to camouflage my truck, should I use the permanent or removable material? We would definitely recommend our Removable material. In fact, all of our truck kits are offered in removable material only, and here’s one reason why: it is a re-positionable adhesive which allows you to detach the sheet and reposition it if necessary before adhering it aggressively. In addition, it has been manufactured with 3M’s Comply performance feature, which allows air to escape from beneath the vinyl, virtually eliminating wrinkles and bubbles. This adhesive system also permits removal while leaving little or no residue.
Can I Camoclad over rust spots?Camoclad will not adhere properly to rust. You’ll need to sand the rust smooth and apply primer paint, then apply the camo once the paint has thoroughly dried. If your truck needs some body work, just repair the damaged areas and spot paint with automotive primer.
Will the decals come off?If properly applied, your Camoclad graphics should stay put in-definitely. However, problems may develop around the edges or curves where the vinyl has been overly stretched. Though our new materials are much better suited to allow for considerably more stretching than previously, when vinyl is stretched beyond its limits, it has a tendency to shrink back. So, when applying to convex shapes, use of relief cuts and patches may be necessary in extreme circumstances (more details in our install instructions). While you can wash your vehicle at a high pressure car wash, it’s good advice to not aim the spray directly into the seams.
Will Camoclad affect my vehicles paint job?In most cases, Camoclad will not only make your vehicle look good, but also protect your paint job. So if you want to remove Camoclad in 3 or 4 years, your vehicle should look the same as the day you put it on. Camoclad has been applied to vehicles all over the world and, with very few exceptions, when Camoclad has been removed, the paint is not affected and virtually no residue was left behind.
How can I install Camoclad around corners without wrinkles? In many cases (such as around fenders and bumpers) our material will actually stretch slightly to conform to curves and corners on your vehicle. Applying subtle heat with a heat gun or hair dryer will soften the material slightly, making it more conformable and allowing for smooth installations over curves or into shallow grooves. In the event that you can’t stretch the material to fit, Camoclad is made to not only adhere to your vehicle, but to itself as well. Therefore, you can cut the Camoclad and overlap it making for a nice, smooth finish. These cuts are called relief cuts and are used when you can’t get around something without wrinkling the material.
Will bubbles form in the vinyl while I apply it? Camoclad has added the Comply performance feature to minimize bubbles but if that happens, simply use a needle to poke a very small hole at the base of the bubble, then push the air out with your thumb and it will look great. However, if your vehicle has been recently painted, some bubbling may occur as a result of out-gassing from the paint. To avoid this, allow at least 2 weeks for the paint to fully cure before applying any vehicle graphics.
Will Camoclad withstand the abuse of daily driving? Yes, and let me tell you, this stuff is tuff! It is durable and will withstand lots of abuse. As you can tell from some of the pictures and customer comments, Camoclad will stand up to barrel rolling down a hill, but the truck doesn’t always make it.
Can I use it on a boat? Camoclad “permanent” was developed with boats in mind. Our customers have been successfully using Camoclad on boats and other watercraft for many years.
What is the warranty on Camoclad?Camoclad Camouflage is warranted for 4 years against fading of the material. The application of our products is not warranted because conditions will vary. However, with proper application, Camoclad has lasted 10 years and still counting.
Does Camoclad have a glossy finish like similar products I've seen? Absolutely not! We manufacture Camoclad with a matte vinyl laminate for a no-gloss, no-glare, gasoline resistant finish. This is another area where we smoke the competition. However, if a glossy finish is desired, Camoclad has been designed to be receptive to automotive paints and can be professionally cleared coated over.
